Francisco Gella’s success as an innovative choreographer, master teacher and influential educator is
attributed to his philosophy of bridging the commercial and concert (ballet & modern) aspects of
the dance world, a notable career as a professional dancer, and training as a competitive gymnast.

His work is rapidly gaining notoriety by prestigious professional
and educational organizations all over the globe.

Having ended serious gymnastics training after eight years at the age of 19, I wanted to do something different that incorporated movement with music. So I decided to register for a Dance 101 class at the University of Washington in the spring semester of my freshman year.

That was 1993. It wasn’t until I saw a piece in the faculty concert called ‘Dance for Seven,’ choreographed by famed New York based choreographer Zvi Gotheiner, that a spark (more accurately as an explosion) of interest completely changed my life. After seeing that beautiful, memorable and haunting piece of work, I knew that I wanted to devote my life to dance.

One powerful moment on stage marked the beginning of a remarkable journey that to this day continues to evolve. My life has been forever changed because of dance.
